noba:
Good evening, I have a question about CO-PA in relation to CATS. We are planning to implement CO-PA in our company. In the process, the question has come up: can I assign hours directly to a profitability segment? If not, is there a reasonable alternative?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Norbert
Hi Norbert,
an interesting question that just made me do a little research with the following (personal, therefore without guarantee) summary - or maybe rather basis for discussion.
Normally there is no activity allocation to profitability segments in CATS. I also lack the imagination how this could be addressed in a time sheet, hardly by the "cryptic" PAOBJNR from CE4/CE4_ACCT.
The non-normal case now seems to be the one where the activity allocation originally stems from an activity within CRM (such as a confirmation for a CRM order). Here, the receiver of the activity allocation can apparently (also) be a profitability segment.
And what are the alternatives? Well, here comes the saying of sayings, it depends, and it depends on the process. Instead of a (direct) profitability segment, it could be sales order items, service orders or internal orders, all of which can have a profitability segment in their belly or in the settlement rule.
Best regards
Ulrich
